LIFE IS PRECIOUS.
There was a shooting at my office building in February. Since then, I've found myself thinking about how easily and quickly life can be taken from us.
APPRECIATE THOSE AROUND YOU.
I was in a relationship for 11 months out of the year with a man who became my best friend. In November, I made the difficult decision to walk away. Savor the moments you have with people. Don’t take them for granted. You never know when they could be gone. This year I also lost my dog, a dear friend who was there for me through some of the most difficult times in my life. I’ve been missing her kisses and love.
At work, this has helped me gain the confidence to speak to clients, be creative, voice my opinion and—as a whole—become better at my job.
LIVE IN THE PRESENT.
I spent a lot of time focusing on the past and future this year. As a result, I spent a lot of time anxious, stressed and sad. I'm making it my goal to not do this next year.
GOD IS FAITHFUL.
I’d spent the past eight years praying that my nephew’s mom would know God and His love, and that my nephew would grow up knowing Him too. This year my nephew and his mom both attended church with me and came to know God. This answered prayer will always be a reminder of the grace and faithfulness of God. I’m learning to be patient, have faith, and trust that His plan and His timing is best.
