I've had a lot of free time lately—at least when I'm not at work. I've been wasting much of that time watching TV. I started the entire series of Breaking Bad a month ago and finished within three weeks. Last weekend I completed the second season of House of Cards. & When I haven’t been watching TV, I’ve been lying in my cousin’s hammock in the backyard—curled beneath a blanket, headphones on, staring at airplanes as they cross the sky.

During this time, my mind has been wandering and dreaming and I’ve managed to acquire a list of several new (and exciting and scary) things that I want to start doing—things that don’t include lying around or watching TV. I’ve kinda ignored my dreams for the past two years, not really deciding what I truly want to do with my life. Now I’m beginning to note what things I should be doing in my free time—what I should be working toward. Yet I find myself uninspired to implement most of these things, partially because I’m unsure of where to start.

Some of the “things” I’m talking about include:

LEARN HOW TO BUILD WEBSITES FROM SCRATCH.
I have the basics of HTML down pretty well. But I’m clueless as to how to start coding a website from nothing. And CSS is foreign to me. My day job is creating websites for clients—but that’s using the brilliant tools and technology created by our web developers. I envy their brilliance. Plus, I'm starting to notice all the rad stuff that's popular on the web these days. Like parallax scrolling, anyone? How does one create that?! This is the kinda stuff I want to create. If you have any tips on where to start, please let me know.

START RUNNING.
This would come across as laughable to anyone who knows me. I have zero muscle tone and I basically loathe exercising. I’ve been walking more lately, which is good. But I don’t do any more than that. It’s time to step it up.

GET BETTER AT BLOGGING [ON A REGULAR BASIS].
My blog has gone through many changes over the years. Its high point was about four or five years ago when I wrote about what inspired me. When I didn’t compare myself to what others were doing. When I simply wrote and let my blog be my blog.

CREATE MORE.
Ignore what's popular. Discover what you like. Go with it. This graphic and this article keep popping up in my mind.

SAVE + PLAN FOR A BIG TRIP.
I’ve been saying I want to go to Europe again within the next three years. But the more I think about it, the more I want to go on a trip that matters. Seeing Chandra’s story on her blog and Instagram has really inspired me to start thinking about finding a cause I care about and taking a trip that matters.

Here's to working on it. What are you dreaming about?
